About Me

I’m a scholar of literature — predominantly, but by no means exclusively, American and Russian, and predominantly, but not exclusively, satirical literature — and I teach during the work-week at SUNY Potsdam, a small public university in a picturesque, yet somewhat remote small town in upstate New York. When I’m not at work, I live two hours’ drive away in Montréal, a vibrant and spectacularly cosmopolitan city, with my partner Stephanie, our two cats and our two dogs. It’s not always the easiest row to hoe having to go back and forth every week between two very different places in two countries, but I feel very fortunate to be doing what I do for a living and to have such a loving and supportive partner in life. Plus, it’s a fairly pretty drive.
